Sorrento and Portland, ME, artist Brenna Crothers will lead a workshop exploring the art of linoleum block carving and printing, a relief printmaking technique also called linocut. She will guide participants through the process of creating original design blocks by experimenting with compositions and patterns that will result in bold, striking images. She will discuss techniques for transferring the designs participants have created to their lino block, and demonstrate carving tools and techniques. Brenna will guide and assist participants in cutting their blocks to create highly contrasting images that can be printed individually or together to create multiple different effects.
