Papier Mache Creations with Rebecca Poole- Heyne
August 20, 10 - 4

Bucksport artist Rebecca Poole-Heyne, while looking at her paintings in progress, creates fanciful, idiosyncratic, papier mache creatures; little birds or dogs, filed with personality and character. In this workshop, she will lead participants in creating 2 to 3 of their own small 3d expressive companions. Bec will demonstrate how to create a simple wire armature covered with packing paper of various thicknesses to add form and serve as the skeleton of the animal. She will then guide participants in building their own armatures. Using papier mache techniques and rice flour glue, participants will layer recycled materials, white and colored tissue paper on the armatures they have built.

Once they have shaped the body of their animal, participants will create details to bring their creation to life. Using pencils, colored pencils, permanent markers, crayons and permanent ink on paper, they will make eyes, noses, colors, symbols and words to give their creations a unique personality.

Participants should bring their favorite permanent black markers, a journal for taking notes, scissors, lunch, snacks and drinks as desired. All other materials will be provided. $135. Workshop limited to 8 participants.
