Scallop Shell Bookmaking with Rosemary Levin

Corea artist Rosemary Levin will lead participants through the process of creating a scallop shell book.


Workshop participants will learn techniques for drilling shells in prepartion for binding. 


They will then select a pair of scallop shells for their book covers and

paint papers to be used inside their books.

Using the papers they have painted, and other available art papers, they will design signatures for the inside pages, learn how to coptic bind the signatures and create their book. Finally, they will learn about different forms of embellishment and finish their book.

A list of bookmaking supplies will be provided. Participants should bring lunch, snacks and drinks as desired. $65
