Scallop Shell Bookmaking with Rosemary Levin

Corea artist Rosemary Levin will lead participants through the creation of a Maine Scallop Shell Book. The workshop will begin with attendees selecting a pair of scallop shells to be used as the cover of their book. They will then spend time painting papers to be used as end papers, signatures and decorative pages in the book. They will assemble the book, cutting and organizing their paper in to the book body and will hand bind their book using coptic stitching techniques with waxed linen thread.
