In work and in life, Mary Kate is inspired by the places where one element (such as the ocean) meets another (such as the shore) and the union creates something entirely new. Her art reflects this fascination of intersection and interaction.  She explores new possibilities for the interplay of traditional quilt blocks and is intrigued by the dynamics of form, shape and color. Thread, fabric, fiber and embellishments are the materials she uses to explore life, portray her imagination, communicate her spirit and share her ideas
